  Christian,

  can I suggeest you run a badblock check on the disk
  I can run a badblock check on the disk. 

nohup badblocks /dev/sda1 > /root/sda1.bad &

  This is a safe, read only tests to check for bad blocks.
  It should be run in the background as it takes 
  a while to do.
